How to use the Manual

THE MANUAL IS LAID OUT to be studied in order, however, it can also be a
choose-your-own-adventure book. It’s both a reference and a training aid.
Use a journal daily to log your training, and use a calendar to set reasonable
goals to use each new skill you learn. As you read through the book, take
notes, and write your own examples of every technique and linguistic
method given to you. The journal, and an audio recorder will prove to be
your best allies when you are training.
Knowing the methods in this book is great. Knowing how to USE
them and being able to apply them in diverse scenarios is what will separate
you from the masses. It’s easy and comfortable to fall into the trap of
becoming an information collector, just harvesting valuable or ‘cool’
information from a book to use later in conversation or to impress people
with knowledge. Don’t do it! Journal and practice daily. You CAN use this
stuff every day. When you read through the techniques, imagine applying
them in different scenarios. Many times, students will have a defined goal
in mind and only train to accomplish that single goal. While this is
admirable, your skills will unfold when you can use them in more than one
or two scenarios.
If you’ve studied influence, you’ve seen the books that promise to
teach covert methods that wind up being next to unusable in normal
conversation. This is not that book. The methods here can be tailored and
the techniques for inducing trance will not leave you feeling awkward when
testing them out. Use them, tailor them and make them a part of your daily
living.
Use a planning tool to manage your goals for the manual. Don’t be
concerned with perfect, be concerned with progress. Use a journal every
time you read the book and develop your own examples of every example
given. Commit to mastery and the book will serve as a guide for years to
come, until you find yourself at the point where you create outcomes
without having to plan, rehearse and concentrate on methods
