Ernest Saunders is the male equivalent and inspiration of the Looney Tunes character Emma Webster, also known as Granny. That, and he would place Pebble in a cage that has a door and is attached to the ceiling for him to see what would take place in higher areas. Ernest is also interested in country folk music, hence his ability to perform them with a deep voice. Lastly, Ernest is also in good terms with Roy, Kelly, and even Aubrey the Aussie.
