The traditional Kukeri festival "Pesponedelnik" in the picturesque village of Shiroka Laka coincides with Bulgaria's national holiday on March 3, attracting numerous visitors. This year's festivities kicked off on February 29, featuring a variety of events such as an exhibition, a welcoming ceremony for Baba Marta, and a festive concert dedicated to the Day of the Amateur Artist. The celebrations also included a recital for March 3 and the presentation of the folk play "Shepherd's Idyl," showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Local kukeri, known for their vibrant costumes and spirited performances, lead the festivities, driving away evil spirits with their lively dances and music.
