Description: Catch-22 is a 1970 American satirical comedy war film directed by Mike Nichols, adapted from Joseph Heller's 1961 novel. The story follows Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Force B-25 bombardier stationed on the Mediterranean island of Pianosa during World War II. Desperate to escape the madness of war, Yossarian seeks to be declared insane, but the military's "Catch-22" policy dictates that anyone requesting to be excused from missions is considered sane and thus ineligible for discharge. The film explores the absurdities of bureaucracy and the human condition through dark humor and poignant storytelling.
