Description: The Sugarland Express is a 1974 American crime drama directed by Steven Spielberg, marking his feature film debut. The story follows Lou Jean Poplin, portrayed by Goldie Hawn, who, upon learning that her infant son is about to be placed in foster care, orchestrates her husband Clovis's escape from prison. Together, they embark on a cross-country journey to reclaim their child, taking a Texas State Trooper, Maxwell Slide, hostage along the way. As they traverse Texas, their actions attract widespread media attention, turning them into unlikely folk heroes. The film is noted for its early collaboration between Spielberg and composer John Williams, whose score was re-released in 2024 to commemorate the film's 50th anniversary.
