"Night of the Demon" (1957), also known as "Curse of the Demon," is a British horror film directed by Jacques Tourneur. The story follows American psychologist Dr. John Holden, portrayed by Dana Andrews, who travels to London to attend a parapsychology conference. He becomes entangled in investigating the activities of Dr. Julian Karswell, played by Niall MacGinnis, a leader of a satanic cult suspected of causing several deaths. The film is an adaptation of M.R. James's 1911 story "Casting the Runes." Despite initial commercial challenges, "Night of the Demon" has been acclaimed by critics and filmmakers, earning a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
