Description: Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American action comedy film directed by Hal Needham, marking his directorial debut. The story follows Bo "Bandit" Darville (Burt Reynolds) and Cledus "Snowman" Snow (Jerry Reed), two truck-driving bootleggers tasked with transporting 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta. Along the way, they are pursued by Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) after his son's runaway bride, Carrie (Sally Field), joins their run. The film was a box office success, grossing $127 million against a $4.3 million budget, and became the second-highest-grossing domestic film of 1977 in the United States, behind Star Wars.
