Coraline (2009)

Coraline (2009)

Coraline is a mesmerizing stop-motion animated film released in 2009. Directed by Henry Selick, the movie is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's dark fantasy children's novel of the same name. It tells the enthralling story of a young girl named Coraline, voiced by Dakota Fanning, who discovers a secret door in her new home that leads to a parallel world. In this alternate reality, she encounters her "Other Mother" and "Other Father," who initially seem perfect but soon reveal their sinister intentions.

The film boasts a talented voice cast, including Teri Hatcher as Coraline's mother, and Keith David as a mysterious cat who aids her on her journey. The atmospheric soundtrack, composed by Bruno Coulais, perfectly captures the eerie and enchanting ambiance of the story.

If you are intrigued by the sounds of Coraline, you can play and download the film's enchanting melodies right here.

A big bottomed sea witch May bob through the waves
A ghost's eye is lost in plain sight.
A little me? That's weird.
Acquire a very tall stepladder.
After all, you still need to find your old parents, don't you?
Ah. Jasmine it is, then.
Ah...
All will be swell, soon as Mother's refreshed.
Always!
Am introducing my astoundishing,
Amazing!
An exploring game. A finding things game.
And ate up our lives.
And can see and smell and...
And cut your knee.
And for my parents?
And hope to lead sailors astray
And I am the Amazing Bobinsky.
And I don't like being stalked, not by psycho nerds or their cats!
And I give you bowls of ice cream
And I give you lots of hugs
And I'll let you sew buttons into my eyes.
And if you somehow win this game?
And Jock Jr., Jock Sr., Jock the third, the fourth,
And making hearts to thump,
And no more doors.
And saw that we weren't happy.
And sometimes he'll come to my window and bring me little dead things.
And soon as they are ready,
And soon as you're through eating, I thought we'd play a game.
And the eyes of the ghost children.
And what do you think you're doing?
And you still have unpacking to do. Lots of unpacking.
Angus hasn't been feeling very well of late.
Another roll? Sweet peas? Corn on the cob?
Anybody here?
Apologize at once, Coraline!
April, I think you're being followed.
April? Aren't you getting ready?
Are those dogs real?
Are you kidding me?
At least they'll love my chapters.
Bah. So sorry. Is nothing.
Be clever, miss. Even if you win, she'll never let you go!
Be strong, Coraline.
Beating her is my only chance.
Because amazing I already know that I am.
Because I have a terrible case of writer's rash on my...
Black is traditional.
Bobinsky. Bobinsky. Bobinsky.
Boy, she knows you like the back of her hand.
Breakfast time!
Bricks? I don't get it.
But a true ocean goddess Must fill out her bodice
But how can you walk away from something and still come back to it?
But how? I locked the door!
But I 'member my true mommy.
But I might be.
But I never give you sandwiches
But I'd wear gloves next time.
But I'm your other mother.
But leave a message and I'll get right back to you.
But look at the snow on your...
But my parents don't have time to garden.
But the jumping mice play only toodle toot, like that.
But the tulips look nice.
But there's two eyes still lost.
But this one was sounding an alarm.
But we need a yes if you want to stay here.
But why? Why does she want me?
But you call me Mr. B
But, Mom, I want stuff growing when my friends come to visit.
But, Mom, the whole school's gonna wear boring gray clothes. No one will have these.
Buttons for eyes, huh?
Can lead people to have ordinary expectations about a person.
Caroline says her parents have vanished quite completely.
Caroline, Caroline, Caroline.
Cease your infernal yapping.
Challenge her, then. She may not play fair, but she won't refuse.
Cheddar? Oh! The mice bait.
Choo, choo!
Circus?
Circus?
Cold drinks? Oh, yeah. Great.
Come on, boys.
Come on! She'll hurt you again.
Come on. Blue hair, my swampers and raincoat?
Cool!
Coraline, I don't have time for you right now,
Coraline, Mr. Bobinsky has invited you
Coraline, we're home.
Coraline, we've been through this before.
Coraline, why don't you go visit downstairs?
Coraline, you only dreamed you ate all that chicken.
Coraline!
Coraline!
Coraline! How dare you disobey your mother!
Coraline! You came back for us.
Coraline? Mom?
Couldn't bear to part with them, so we had them stuffed.
Crazy? You're the jerk wad that gave me the doll!
Cripes almighty! How are my best trolls?
Dad!
Dad! I'm not five anymore.
Dad! So, Ma, invitations?
Dad! Where...
Dang! Check out Slugzilla.
Darling, why would you run away from me?
Daughter in distress.
Dearest Coraline,
Did she do this to you?
Do svidaniya, Caroline.
Do svidaniya, Coraline.
Do you have any nice queens for Mummy?
Do you know such a thing?
Do you know where Mom and Dad are?
Do you know where the garden tools are?
Do you want to pop a little gin in it, dear?
Don't believe me? You can ask the cat.
Don't even think about going out, Coraline Jones!
Don't forget about me, guys. Okay?
Don't fret, Charlie. They'll love the new catalog.
Don't leave me! Don't leave me!
Don't remember our names,
Don't wanna hurt you!
Don't worry. I'm getting the hang of it.
Eat? That's ridiculous. Mothers don't eat daughters.
Evil witch! I'm not scared!
Ew!
Ew!
Excusez moi, but that pizza, that was delicious.
Famous jumping mouse circus not ready,
Find our eyes, mistress, and our souls will be freed.
Fine.
Fine. Don't tell me.
For the garden party?
For you, our little doll.
Four incredibly boring windows
Gave all that we asked.
Get a grip, soldier!
Get away from me!
Go on.
Go on. Have one.
Go on. Open it. They'll be there, all right.
Go out and count all the doors and windows and write that down on...
Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
Go to sleep. Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
Go to sleep. Go to sleep. Go to sleep.
Good kitty.
Good night, Coraline.
Good night, Dad.
Good night, Mom.
Good night, Wybie.
Gosh, I have no idea where your old parents are.
Grandma'd kill me. Thinks it's dangerous or something.
Grandma's missing sister. I think I just met her. Come on.
Great! I'd love to get rid of it.
Great! The village stalker.
Great. Another Wybie. Hello, Why Were You Born.
Grossgusting.
Ha!
Ha!
Ha! Your cat's not wild. He's a wuss puss.
Had to give it a try.
Had to go food shopping, anyway. Dad's planning something special.
Hang on.
Has she taken those, too?
Have a seat, won't you?
He better wrap them up ASAP.
He's not really my cat. He's kind of feral. You know, wild.
Hello again.
Hello, Coraline and Coraline doll.
Hello, galoobooshka.
Hello, hello, hello, hello.
Hello!
Hello?
Hello?
Hello?
Hello. How did you get in?
Her strength is our strength.
Here comes a burp.
Here, have beet. Make you strong.
Here. Thanks.
Hey, Caroline!
Hey, Dad. How's the writing going?
Hey, Jonesy. Look what I found in Gramma's trunk.
Hey, Mom. Where does this door go?
Hey, you!
Hey! Hey!
Hey.
Hey. How's it going, Loper?
Hi! I'm digging in my garden right now,
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Hold on. We aren't finished yet. Are we?
Hop on, kiddo. I wanna show you something.
How are the mooshkas, Mr. B?
How did this happen?
How do you feel about a mustard, ketchup, salsa wrap for lunch?
How infinite in faculty.
How is 100 year old candy gonna help?
How nice to see you, Caroline.
Huh?
Huh?
Huh?
Huh?
Huh?
Huh.
Huh.
Huh.
Huh.
Hush! And shush. For the beldam might be listening.
I almost fell down a well yesterday, Mom.
I already know where you've hidden them.
I bet those actresses would love to hear your dream.
I brought a friend.
I brought this for you.
I can't believe it.
I can't look.
I can't wait till summer. You're both coming, right?
I didn't break it. It must've broke when you escaped.
I didn't know I had another mother.
I don't know. How do you taste?
I don't know. Maybe she just ran away.
I don't understand.
I found some rat crap, and I thought you'd feel safer.
I give you bowls of porridge and I give you bowls of ice cream
I give you lots of kisses
I gotta hide this somewhere, somewhere she can never...
I grew up here.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
I have to go back.
I hear something. Right over...
I heard about water witching before, but it doesn't make sense.
I knew he was wrong.
I knew it was real.
I like it.
I love dinner breakfast food.
I mean my other, other mother. Mom number one?
I meant my parents. They don't listen to me either.
I missed you guys so much, you'll never...
I see a giraffe.
I suppose we could walk.
I swear I'll go food shopping soon as we finish the catalog.
I think I heard someone calling you, Wyborne.
I think I mentioned that I don't like rats at the best of times.
I think I should get to bed.
I think it's locked.
I think it's time, don't you?
I think our mail got mixed up.
I think you are so nice
I think you are so nice I give you bowls of porridge
I think you might have said something like that.
I thought you'd like him more if he spoke a little less. So I fixed him.
I want to be with my real mom and dad.
I want you to let me go.
I wasn't saddled with anything. It's Coraline.
I wasn't stalking you. We're hunting banana slugs.
I would've died.
I, Sergei Alexander Bobinsky,
I...
I... I'd love to play, but I better get home to my other mother.
I'll die without you!
I'll try.
I'm Coraline Jones. I've got so much to tell you.
I'm Coraline.
I'm far more nutritious
I'm going to bed. Right now!
I'm heading inside. I still have to find my parents.
I'm home!
I'm just looking for an old well. Know it?
I'm known as the siren of all seven seas
I'm not supposed to talk about it. I'm Wybie. Wybie Lovat.
I'm real thirsty.
I'm really sorry I didn't believe you about all this evil stuff, Coraline.
I'm really sorry I threw you at her, the other mother.
I'm really, really busy.
I'm really, really tired. Yeah.
I'm sorry, but she said to tell you the food's ready.
If I lose, I'll stay here with you forever and let you love me.
If the real Charlie Jones wants his pages edited,
If you stay here, you can have whatever you want.
If you won't even talk to me, I'm gonna find the other Wybie.
In action like an angel.
In apprehension how like a god!
In each of three wonders I've made just for you,
In form, in moving how express and admirable!
Is nice but not so much amazing.
Is this what you're looking for?
Isn't that why we moved here?
It didn't hurt, did it, when she...
It looked like you needed this one, however.
It looks more like slime to me.
It used to look like this pioneer girl, then Huck Finn Jr.,
It was all I could think of.
It was incredibly real, Mom.
It was magic.
It wasn't my idea.
It's a deal.
It's a fine, fine thing you did for us, miss.
It's a game we play.
It's gone. My poison oak! It's gone!
It's good news. There's a tall, handsome beast in your future.
It's hand pulled taffy from Brighton. Best in the world.
It's her and her sister, before she disappeared.
It's how she watches you, finds out what's wrong with your life.
It's not real scientific, but I heard an ordinary name like Caroline
It's older than Grandma. Old as this house, probably.
It's poison oak.
It's supposed to be so deep, if you fell to the bottom and looked up,
It's the empty part of this world.
It's the key, miss. There's only one, and the beldam will find it.
It's the new neighbor, Miriam. Caroline.
It's wonderful, Wybie.
Jumping mouse circus!
Just bring her by the house tomorrow. We can tell her together.
Just looking ahead, dear.
Lady and gentleman, for to tickle your eyes and ears
Let me guess. You're from Texas or Utah, someplace dried out and barren, right?
Let's go!
List everything that's blue. Just let me work.
Listen, I'm really not supposed to...
Little girl.
Look at you!
Look familiar? Wybie.
Look, I'm from Pontiac.
Lost things, April. Bad.
Lost!
Lost. Bad things.
Magic dowser, magic dowser,
Making up a song about Coraline
Mango milkshake?
Maybe she should buy all your clothes.
Michigan. And if I'm a water witch, then where's the secret well?
Miriam, get... That's right.
Miriam! Put the kettle on!
Miss Spink and Forcible? But you said they're dingbats.
Missed us? Oh, no. You broke my favorite snow globe.
Mmm hmm.
Mmm!
Mmm.
Mmm.
Mmm. So good.
Mmm. Something smells good.
Mom!
Mom! Dad!
Mom! Dad!
Mom! Dad! I missed you so much!
Mom?
Mom? Dad!
Mom? What are you doing here in the middle of the night?
Mom. Dad.
Mother said you'd like it.
Mr. B.'s not drunk, Mom. He's just eccentric.
Mud facials, mud baths, mud pies.
Mustn't talk when Mother's not here.
My eyes? You're blind as a bat.
My friend?
My gramma, she owns the Pink Palace. Won't rent to people with kids.
My grandma's real mad. Says it was her sister's.
My kingdom for a horse!
My name!
My other mother would get them.
My real father and mother,
My real parents.
Never wear green in your dressing room.
New cheese samples.
No, Coraline. Rain makes mud. Mud makes a mess.
No, I, Birth of Venus
No, not all of it. Not all of it. That's right. Now hand it over.
No, oolong.
No!
No!
No!
No!
No!
No!
No!
No! Oh, no, no. I'm sure she'd prefer jasmine.
No! Where are you?
No. I guess not. Thanks for the tea, though.
No. I...
No. No, no, no. No.
No. They're good for lost things.
Not Caroline at all. Maybe I work them too hard.
Not even that anymore.
Not if she wants to win my life.
Not in a million years. But it wouldn't matter.
Not my idea, of course. What'd you get saddled with?
Not pretend like the crazy man's in our house.
Not put your knee through them.
Not talking, huh?
Nothing out here.
Now go tell your other father that supper's ready.
Now you're going to stay here forever.
Now, don't be difficult, Coraline.
Now, run along, you two, and have fun.
Now, there's Hamish the third...
Now, was there something you came to tell us?
Of course you do. Everyone does.
Of course, chocolate never hurts. Like one?
Of course, I do feed him every night,
Of course, sweetheart. It's all made up.
Of course. Any requests?
Oh, and upstairs, I saw a real mouse circus.
Oh, give me that cup, April. Your eyes are going.
Oh, God. I'm still here?
Oh, God. I've lost the game. I've lost everything.
Oh, Lord.
Oh, much better, dear, but he can't duck his wings forever.
Oh, my twitchy witchy girl
Oh, my twitchy witchy girl
Oh, no, thanks. You've done so much already.
Oh, no. I found it that way.
Oh, they are, are they?
Oh, uh...
Oh, Wybie.
Oh, yeah. They swooped down and pulled me right out of my seat,
Oh, yes. Your missing parents.
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
Oh! Beware of old oysters too large in the chest
Oh.
Oh.
Oh. Hello.
Oh. Like the gloves.
Oh. Some kid left this on the front porch.
Okay.
One boring blue boy in a painfully boring painting.
One.
Only one thing to do.
Oompah, oompah. Toodle toot. Toodle toot.
Or maybe she'd just love something to eat.
Orange? My monkey slippers are blue.
Our eyes will be on Coraline
Our garden, Coraline.
Our lives for the theater, April.
Our sweet departed angels.
Out of my way!
Ow!
Ow!
Ow!
Perfect. Hide and seek in the rain.
Perhaps they've grown bored of you and run away to France.
Perhaps, if you do win your escape,
Pick it up, Dad. Pick it up.
Please shut it!
Psst! Can you get me some of that magic mud you were talking about?
Put them back.
Put them back.
Ready to break a leg, Miriam?
Real Dad?
Real Mom?
Really? That know it all Wybie said it was all in Mr. B's head.
Same as always. Stay here with us.
Secret!
See?
She can't escape without her eyes. None of the ghosts can.
She only made what she knew would impress you.
She said that she loved us.
She says she was stolen.
She spied on our lives through the little doll's eyes.
She wants something to love, I think.
She'll be having the oolong tea.
She's a peach, she's a doll She's a pal of mine
She's as cute as a button in the eyes of everyone
She's got a thing for games.
She's got this whole world where everything's better.
She's practically naked!
She's taken them.
Shh!
Should I leave it outside, or...
Show me the well!
Small world.
So if you go swimming With bowlegged women
So now, I switch to stronger cheese and soon, watch out!
So sharp you won't feel a thing.
So sharp you won't feel a...
So she lured us away with treasures.
So sorry. Mother making me.
So thoughtful of you to send this nice cheddar, Coraline.
So we let her sew the buttons.
So what do you think is in the other apartment?
So where are they? The ghost eyes?
So you're back.
So, can I go out? I think it's perfect weather for gardening.
So, that doll. Did you make it look like me?
Something like that. But then we had the accident.
Something that isn't her.
Something's wrong. Shouldn't the old well be here?
Sometimes the mice are little mixed up.
Soon you'll see things our way.
Soon you'll see things our way.
Sorry.
Sorry. I'm Coraline Jones.
Spink and Forcible, only they weren't old ladies.
Squish squash, pumpkin sauce.
Still Coraline, Miss Spink.
Stolen?
Stop tickling me!
Stop!
Stop! He's one of the circus mice!
Stop! Stop! Thief! Thief!
Stupendulous and amazing
Surprised she let you move in.
Take it!
Take your multivitamin at least.
Thank you.
Thanks, Mom.
That is possible.
That must be it!
That sounds exciting!
That was just a disguise. But then, I was flying through the air, and it was...
That's 'cause you're crazy!
That's disgusting.
That's nice.
That's nonsense. He can't talk.
That's what you always say.
The beauty of the world!
The beldam.
The cat? I'll just tell Grandma that you couldn't find the doll. Ow!
The dead children, everyone you've trapped here.
The food, the garden, the neighbors. But it's all a trap.
The jumping mice?
The mice asked me to give you message.
The mud.
The one behind the wallpaper? But it's all bricked up.
The other Wybie told me so.
The paragon of animals!
The pearl.
The third, the ninth, yes. The fourth, I'm right.
Then it was this Little Rascals chick with all these ribbons and braids and...
Then you let me go. You let everyone go.
Then you won't need the tools.
There were garden squash like balloon animals and snapdragons.
There you go, sweetie.
There, now. It's your decision, darling.
There.
There's one tiny little thing we need to do.
They are saying do not go through little door.
They call you Coraline instead of Caroline.
They even get your name wrong, you know?
They must've closed this off when they divided up the house.
They say even the proudest spirit can be broken with love.
They tell me that you are savior, Caroline.
They weren't bored of me. You stole them!
They're cocoa beetles from Zanzibar.
They're good for bad things sometimes.
They're jumping mice, Mom, and the dreams aren't dangerous.
They're not coming back, are they? Mom and Dad.
They're the most fun I've had since we've moved here.
Thief!
Thief! Stop!
Think they're trying to poison me?
This chicken is good. Hungry, aren't you?
This mermaid enchantress
This piano plays me.
Though you might make me jealous.
Three!
Tickle no more, you dragon snappers.
To come see the jumping mice perform after dinner.
To present an alluring display
To set them free?
Too bad you won't have this.
Too easy.
Toodle oo. Cheery bye.
Try some of the chard. You need a vegetable.
Two.
Ugh!
Ugh!
Uh huh.
Uh huh.
Uh huh.
Uh huh.
Uh huh. You mind?
Uh... Don't you only make wings for the dead ones?
Um...
Um... I can see you don't have button eyes,
Very clever using this mix up to sneak my home and peek at mooshkas?
Very, very thank you, lady and gentleman.
Wait!
Walk around the world.
Wanna hear my new song?
Was it wonderful, dear?
We cats, however, have far superior senses than humans,
We know just what you need.
We loved it, Mr. B. It was so... So...
We made a deal! Zip it!
We only want what's best for you.
We... We can?
We'll sing and play games, and Mother will cook your favorite meals.
We're here! Time to muscle up.
We've lost our ride, Miriam.
Welcome, Miss Lovat!
Well, go on. He's in his study.
Well, Grandma showed me this picture after I called you crazy.
Well, great to meet a Michigan water witch,
Well, I'm getting out of here. That's what I'm doing.
Well, I'm glad it's finally over.
Well, it looked just like you, and I figured...
Well, it's slime or bedtime, fusspot. Now what's it gonna be?
Well, not to worry, child.
Well, produce them.
Well, she can't keep me in the dark forever.
Well, she says it's time for dinner, breakfast, food.
Well, what do you think?
Well, what should I do?
What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason!
What about me?
What are you doing? Ow! That hurts!
What do you mean?
What do you see?
What does she mean, wonders?
What if you don't find them?
What kind of game would it be?
What rain?
What? He hates to get his feet wet. Jeez.
What? We've waited months for those tickets.
What's gotten into you, Coraline?
What's his name, anyway?
What's wrong, Coraline? Don't you wanna play?
When she comes around exploring Mom and I will never, ever make it boring
When they were kids, Grandma's sister disappeared.
Where are my parents?
Where are you hiding, you little monster?
Where have you gone?
Where'd she hide you?
Where's the other mother? I wanna go home.
Where's your swampers and chook?
Who are you?
Who ever laid their eyes on Coraline
Who's starving? Raise your hand.
Who's there?
Whoa!
Whoa!
Whoa!
Whoa!
Why did you change your mind?
Why don't we play a game?
Why steal this?
Why Were You Born.
Will you stop pestering me if I do this for you?
With grease and worms and mung...
With your gammy legs? It's nearly two miles to the theater.
Won't be long.
Would you go fetch your father? I bet he's hungry as a pumpkin by now.
Would you like to come in? We're playing cards.
Wow!
Wow!
Wybie?
Wybie's got a cat like you at home.
Wyborne!
Wyborne!
Wyborne! Grandma!
Wyborne! Come home!
Yahoo! That was great!
Yeah, I think I heard someone calling me, Jonesy.
Yeah, so, you know that old doll I gave you?
Yeah! I wanna hug your face!
Yeah. So I really need to get that doll.
Yes, miss. And hidden them.
Yet we still wanted more.
You and Dad get paid to write about plants, and you hate dirt.
You are in terrible danger.
You are very welcome anytime you like. You and also your good friend there.
You aren't my mother.
You creep! Crazy!
You dare disobey your mother?
You didn't lock it.
You do like it here, don't you, Coraline?
You do like it here, don't you, Coraline?
You don't get it, do you?
You had wild looking pajamas and orange monkey slippers.
You horrible cheating girl!
You know, I'm glad you decided to stalk me.
You know, I've never been inside the Pink Palace.
You know, this house is 150 years old.
You mean like hide and seek?
You must be the other cat.
You probably think this world is a dream come true, but you're wrong.
You scared me to death, you mangy thing.
You see, Caroline, the problem is... My new songs go oompah, oompah,
You selfish brat!
You smell like the fishes
You still mad?
You stomp too hard and you'll fall in it.
You sure you won't come?
You wanna come along? You can pick out something you like.
You were in the dream, too, Dad.
You... You mean the other mother?
You'd see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day.
You'll just go home and be bored and neglected,
You're awful cheerful considering you can't say anything.
You're holding it wrong. See? Danger.
You're in terrible danger, girl!
You're just a copy she made of the real Mr. B.
You're just in time for supper, dear.
You're just like them.
You're kidding. And why is the door so small?
You're not listening to me!
You're not my mother. My mother doesn't have...
You're talking about your garden catalog?
You're welcome. And I...
You're wrong, Coraline. They aren't there.
Your better father, dear. He's out in the garden.
Your dad cooks, I clean, and you stay out of the way.
Your father and I will clean up while you and your friend head upstairs.
A what? Miriam, really.
Bed? Before dinner?
But... Well, get yourself cleaned up.
Caroline what? Coraline. Coraline Jones.
Don't forget the invitations. Even Bobinsky?
For me? Yep.
Give it back! Give it back!
Give it back! Give it back!
Give it back! Thief!
Give it back! Thief!
He'll help me. No point.
Home? We've been waiting for you, Coraline.
I hope that feels... Shh!
I know you like them. Everybody likes games.
I mean, it's just an ordinary branch. It's a dowsing rod.
It wasn't my fault you hit that truck. I never said it was.

Lost. Bad.
Lost. Bad.

Really? Sure.
Really? Uh huh.
See you soon. See you soon.
So he can't talk at all? Nope.
So, gonna order the tulips? What's that?
So? So explore it.
The doll is my grandma's spy? No. The other mother.
The one that disappeared. You stole that doll, didn't you?
Then why'd you lock the door? Oh!
