Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is a superhero film released in 1987. Directed by Sidney J. Furie, the movie stars Christopher Reeve as Superman and features an ensemble cast including Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Jon Cryer, Jackie Cooper, and Mark Pillow. The film centers around Superman's mission to rid the world of nuclear weapons and bring about global peace.

In a time where the threat of nuclear war loomed over the world, Superman is burdened by the endless suffering caused by these destructive weapons. Feeling responsible for their creation, he embarks on a personal quest to rid the world of nuclear weapons once and for all. Superman gathers all the nuclear weapons on Earth and throws them into the sun, hoping that their energy will be neutralized and world peace will prevail.

However, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), Superman's archenemy, has his own evil intentions. He plots a revenge scheme against Superman, creating a superhuman clone called Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow). With his immense power and ability to feed off the sun's energy, Nuclear Man becomes a formidable adversary for Superman.

As Superman continues his mission for peace, he faces numerous challenges and dangers. The world leaders grow skeptical of his motives, suspecting a hidden agenda. Meanwhile, Lois Lane (Margot Kidder), Superman's love interest, finds herself in danger after pursuing a story uncovering Luthor's plans.

Despite the personal risks and mounting opposition, Superman remains steadfast in his mission, dedicated to protecting humanity from the horrors of nuclear annihilation. As Nuclear Man wreaks havoc and unleashes his destructive powers, Superman must summon all his courage and strength to save the world and bring about the peace he so desperately seeks.

Released during a financially troubled time for the film's production company, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace suffered from budget constraints, resulting in poor special effects and a less polished overall production. Critically, the film was panned for its weak plot, lackluster performances, and overall campiness. Despite its flaws, the film still holds a cult following among Superman fans who appreciate its intentions and themes.

While the film itself may have received mixed reviews, the soundtrack for Superman IV: The Quest for Peace offers an impressive collection of music. Scored by Alexander Courage, the soundtrack incorporates John Williams's original Superman theme, adding new elements and themes to complement the film.

From epic orchestral pieces that capture the heroism of Superman to intense, suspenseful tracks reflecting the battles between Superman and Nuclear Man, the soundtrack is a symphony of emotions. With majestic horns, soaring strings, and memorable melodies, it enhances the film's narrative and elevates the action on screen.

The Superman IV: The Quest for Peace soundtrack is available for fans to enjoy and relive the cinematic experience. A genetic stew In this dish, If you will.
A hearty bienvenue to jean Pierre Dubois,
A long time.
A lot of people think of you as the mad Russian.
A nuclear man.
A number...
A tiny commission.
A true genius like myself learns to seize the moment.
Aaaahhh!
Aaaahhh!
Aaahh...
Aaarrrrgh!
Aah!
Aah!
Aah!
Aah!
Aah!
Aah!
Aah!
Abominable!
About his peace Mission?
About hostile takeovers of big companies,
About personal Involvement
About the president's speech on the arms race.
After It Is gone,
Ah, there you are.
Aha! Right.
All right, Superman!
All right!
All right!
All right!
All right. Let's go.
All that remains of a once powerful civilization...
All that remains of krypton's energy.
An angle? He's just a kid!
An emergency's come up.
And a great warmonger In his own right.
And because the summit has failed,
And because the summit has failed,
And don't be late.
And found a fragile peace.
And he really is... In trouble,
And he said...
And how the hell do I get to cedar city?
And I meant it.
And I never expected anything In return
And I said we should get Superman
And I would tell him... that I love him,
And most reliable means of public transportation.
And no matter how few minutes I saw him for,
And now, Leonard...
And remember...
And so delicious?
And stretch!
And that I'll always love him,
And the daily planet.
And the more missiles you guys sell.
And the name of the game Is making money.
And then I came up with it.
And there will be peace
And this is my daughter Lacy.
And Trixie.
And what do you fear?
And while you're at it, fire that Clark Kent.
And will continue to pursue...
And yet the earth is threatened
And you certainly have no right to this.
And you gone,
And you will be finally alone.
And you, Mr. Warfield,
And you, Mr. Warfield, are now a minority shareholder.
And your... frankly, your brawn,
And, uh, we've decided to increase your commission.
Anybody wants me, I'll be downtown!
Are you ok?
Are you sure you know
Arghh!
Arrrgh!
As always, It's on the brink,
As of today, I'm not a visitor anymore
At all the nuclear missiles and arms you've helped us sell,
Au revoir.
Be right back.
Be right back.
Because I convinced the bankers of this city
Because Miss lane said you were really ill.
Because the earth Is my home, too.
Behold, my unscrupulous friends.
Betrayed!
Betrayed!
Betrayed.
Bonjour, monsieur.
Boom.
Boring.
Boys, old Lex here has kind of a secret recipe,
Breathe really deep.
Breathe. Do you feel better?
But a reporter's first allegiance.
But Clark won't notice what you're wearing.
But I knew you were here, you know?
But I, In all modesty, am.
But I'd like to address the delegates.
But I've read enough In my own newspaper
But If we work together,
But It cannot console your spirit.
But It's great for your series.
But It's...
But not as much as being with you.
But the world Isn't really on the brink.
But this time, nephew, you did fine.
But to strive to be second to none.
But you go ahead, ok?
By now, Kalel, you are entering
By the same fate as krypton's.
Bye, Clark!
Bye.
Called metropolis after hours.
Can you blame him?
Can't wait for the chief's reaction.
Car had a flat.
Chief look different to you?
Chief look different to you?
Chief, the president's coming on live.
Clark Is the oldest living boy scout, ok?
Clark Kent!
Clark, are you ok?
Clark, are you ok?
Clark, she really likes you,
Clark, stop! Oh, Clark!
Clark, this Is Paul.
Clark!
Clark! Clark!
Clark?
Clark.
Clark...
Clarkey?
Come early.
Come here.
Come on, get in.
Come on, let's get some fresh air.
Come on, let's hit a few.
Come on, Luthor.
Come on.
Come with me, my friend.
Comment a va aujourd'hui?
Compliments of the daily planet.
Confiscating the missiles?
Congratulations, Miss publisher.
Could we get some fresh air?
Could we possibly bring about?
Could you break a 20?
Could you hand me those weights, Clark?
Couple of years.
Daddy loves whipping up campaigns,
Daddy...
Darn it, Clark, why are you so stubborn?
Dear Superman, my teacher Is speaking
Destroy Superman now.
Destroy Superman!
Destroy Superman!
Destroy Superman.
Destroy.
Did I do ok or what, uncle Lex?
Did you get that?
Did you see how scared those guys were?
Didn't we have our little talk
Dixie...
Do you have a drum set?
Doesn't anyone have a suggestion?
Don't be overdramatic.
Don't be silly. All men like me.
Don't do anything rash.
Don't go In there. She's not In there.
Don't tell me you only read pictures.
Doors.
Down!
Down!
Dress.
Drive away.
Driver didn't have any change.
Easily suspended by his single hair.
Easy, now, easy.
Effective immediately,
Enough small talk. What are you up to?
Errr!
Especially when It's bumpy.
Even this wretched pit can't diminish
Even yourself,
Every boy can be helped.
Everybody else, get back to work.
Everybody In the world will wonder
Everybody thinks I'm a space cadet.
Everybody's saying he's dead, but...
Everyone back to work.
Exactly. You know what the sun is?
Excuse me, Miss Warfield?
Excuse me, Mr. Warfield,
Excuse me.
Excusez moi... your spoiledness.
Far away from here and safe.
First, I have fun.
For a while, ok?
For Clark? No! Ha ha ha!
For many years now,
For war profits.
Forget it!
Fresh air?
Fresh air.
From America's top think tank
From the land of the free and the great cost overrun,
From the right person.
From where you were born.
General Romoff.
Gentlemen, I've decided
Gentlemen, one moment.
Get yourself a pet... a kitten, a puppy.
Glad you're back, Clark...
Good night, sweet prince.
Good. Too much thinking wears down your batteries.
Gorham, Sir.
Gorham, Sir.
Great.
Grrrrr!
Guess I'll need a tape recorder.
Guess who.
Ha ha ha!
Ha ha! Superman? Something's happened to him?
Ha!
Ha!
Had a visit from a good nurse.
Happens to the world, I...
Harry howler, nuclear strategist
Has graciously donated a strand of his hair to the museum,
Have a good trip?
Have a nice day!
Have discovered a way to destroy Superman.
Have you considered using contacts?
Have you heard from Clark?
Have you seen Clark? Huh?
He doesn't know what's happening.
He gets his energy from the sun.
He hasn't been around or even telephoned.
He looks like my father asking for a loan.
He might need this.
He worships me.
He would want to thank you.
He...
He'll be all right. I think he needs a doctor.
He'll make him mortal. He'll become sick.
He'll pierce his skin.
He's a little bit anxious.
He's a trainer here.
He's kind of cute.
He's loyal, he's obedient,
He's probably helping the cab driver change a flat
He's trustworthy, he's helpful,
He's, like... he's, like, cold.
Hello, Superman.
Help!
Help!
Help! Somebody get help!
Helping me? Helping me what?
Here comes Mr. Warfield.
Here you can see a 1,000 pound load
Here, let everybody get a picture of you.
Here, try this one.
Here. Batter up.
Hey, look at that.
Hey, Luthor, you better start breakin' a sweat,
Hey, Mr. Kent. No, he's not here yet.
Hey, stop! Hold It there, son!
Hey, this Is groovy.
Hey, this rocks! Hey!
Hey, what's that?
Hi, Clark.
Hi, Clark.
Hi, Jeremy.
Hi, Jeremy.
Hi, Lacy.
Hi, Lois.
Hi, Lois.
Hi, Mr. Hornsby.
Hi.
Hi. Those bellboys should look where they're going.
High school physics.
His motto is,
Hmm?
Hold?
Hop in, bubba. Let's give It a listen.
Hopefully, very terrible, Miss lane.
Hot off the press.
How about you? You still down?
How are you, Sir?
How can one man be so square
How could you not call me back?
How do you do?
How'd you know?
How'd you like going solo?
I always know when Superman's In trouble.
I am covering Superman's press conference.
I asked him what happened to the baby's crib,
I believe that will do.
I belong to the right clubs.
I bought the paper out from under them.
I bought up the outstanding shares,
I can create a being who's more powerful than him,
I can't stand idly by and watch us
I confess.
I could be president, emperor, king.
I could cover the story!
I could look after It for you, Lois.
I don't believe it!
I don't know how to tell you this.
I don't think so.
I don't think we need another shopping center.
I don't want to burst your bubble,
I don't want to catch a cold.
I doubt it's good news.
I escaped from prison with one thing on my mind...
I feel kind of weird.
I feel like I have jet lag.
I figured that If your creature
I got just the thing for you.
I guess a lot of people I know are jerks.
I have some mock copies
I hope Clark's ok. I better look.
I hope not.
I just don't think he'd be attracted to somebody like you.
I just want to keep the threat alive.
I knew it.
I know all the right places.
I know I'm forbidden to interfere,
I know that...
I know that...
I know you guys are overcome with joy
I know you guys are overcome with joy
I know you're all upset by the crisis.
I like to think of you as just madly eccentric.
I loved it...
I made you. I can destroy you.
I mean, she's useless.
I Missed you, Clark.
I needed to be with you, too.
I never forget that, Sir.
I never realized It before.
I promise you I had nothing to do with that.
I remember everything.
I said I wish Superman would've said yes!
I said I'd get you
I saved you a seat.
I see him, bubba!
I seen one In a magazine.
I taught you long ago
I think he just needs help.
I think I speak for all of us when I say
I think It's more than a fan letter.
I think we better start our interview.
I think you should read it.
I thought I could give you freedom from war.
I tricked you.
I usually get air sick,
I want to introduce you to the new kid on the block.
I want to propose a toast.
I was just tidying up for when you show the place.
I was wondering, Mr. Hornsby,
I was wrong. It's not mine to give.
I wish you could see the earth as I do.
I won't let you turn this grand old lady
I won't sell to a big developer.
I, Lex Luthor,
I'd like all the people back there to know
I'd rather not, If you don't mind.
I'll be fine. It's ok.
I'll blow 20 stories off that building...
I'll come up with a new plan.
I'll do what our governments haven't done.
I'll get back to work.
I'll get on with the introductions.
I'll introduce him to his first nightmare...
I'll make a fortune rearming the world.
I'll make a suggestion.
I'll make sure he's all right.
I'll make sure he's all right.
I'll speak to Miss Warfield.
I'm an experiment?
I'm cooking some scallops and duck.
I'm feeling better.
I'm fine.
I'm flying to Paris
I'm freako?
I'm going to hold out for a real farmer.
I'm incredible! I'm...
I'm incredible.
I'm just an old reporter,
I'm Mr. Warfield,
I'm not right for this.
I'm out here, Lois.
I'm pretty tired, you know,
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry. I completely forgot.
I'm sorry. That's just how It is.
I'm sure he'll do the right thing.
I'm through taking It lying down!
I'm usually In bed by 10:30.
I'm very, very rich.
I'm, uh...
I'm... what? I'm a genius?
I've also seen the folly of your wars.
I've always felt moments like this should be shared
I've come up with a brilliant idea.
I've felt great joy In your magnificent accomplishments.
I've got a letter for Superman, care of me.
I've got thinking to do,
I've had nothing on my awesome mind
I've just been really busy, that's all.
I've lived among you as a visitor.
I've never had a duck turn out so perfectly!
I've seen the beauty of your many cultures.
If anyone's freako here, It's got to be me!
If our dying planet can save your life, my son,
If you didn't buy It from jean Pierre,
If you teach the earth
If you will not tell me, I will hurt people.
If you'd planted a bomb,
If you'll put this on one of your missiles,
If... if you do see him,
Illegal...
In that case, you will need a sponsor.
In the nuclear arms race.
In the nuclear arms race.
In this wonderful mushroom sauce with champagne,
Inevitable.
Into one of your bimbos!
Is dinner ready? Can we eat?
Is he for real?
Is some loving attention
Is there anything I can do?
Is there something wrong?
Is to the truth.
Is you helped me devise it.
Isn't that crazy?
Isn't that headline Irresponsible?
Isn't that the doorbell?
It always is with Clark.
It could incinerate the average man like that!
It hasn't made any money In three years!
It Is my last gift to you.
It must have been an effort for you
It must have been some pretty good medicine,
It won't be that terrible.
It's a 2706, Inclement override.
It's a huge nuclear bomb
It's a long, long way
It's great, Isn't it?
It's just that you're so involved.
It's my own private frequency.
It's nice of him to help me out.
It's probably just a picture request.
It's so boring up there with Lois and Superman.
It's Superman's decision now.
It's the least we could do.
It's very chic.
It's very nice to meet you, Ma'am.
It's wonderful.
It's your old friend Lex.
Jeepers.
Jeez, what a jerk.
Jeremy, over here.
Jeremy?
Jimmy, sometimes all you need.
Jimmy.
Just a minute.
Just a minute.
Just leave it there, Clark.
Just push down.
Just remember, I made you.
Just step down.
Kalel.
Keep your eye out.
Krypton, your mother planet.
Lacy Warfield.
Lacy, It's only money!
Lacy, that's all the common man reads.
Lacy!
Lacy!
Lacy.
Ladies and gentlemen, my daughter,
Later.
Launch.
Lenny, I've always considered you
Lenny, my loud mouth nephew,
Lenny!
Lenny.
Lenny's been under a bad influence.
Less sensational papers go broke.
Let me just get a rag.
Let's get them duds dirty!
Let's go do something wild.
Let's see a little sweat.
Let's see, I have $18 and...
Let's set it a little higher for you.
Let's try It again. Come on, let's start.
Let's write our congressmen.
Life itself started In a murky pit much like this.
Like a natural resource, protected from predators,
Like the last six dresses you tried on.
Listen carefully, my son.
Listen, I thought we could do this together.
Listen, I'm, um...
Listen.
Little Clark must have had a bad dream and kicked it.
Lois, explain this column of figures.
Lois, get In here!
Lois, good to see you again.
Lois, I'm sorry.
Lois? Lois, I'm sorry.
Lois.
Lois.
Look closely at the cell structure.
Look to your left, tall, dark, and handsome.
Look, Clark,
Look, Clark.
Loudly.
Love all humanity Instead.
Madam secretary,
Madam...
Madame secretary, I don't represent any country,
Make your point.
Marshal, take him away.
May I point out that daddy holds all your contracts,
Maybe you think I'm one, so you avoid me.
Maybe you'd like to keep these
Maybe, but It'll sell a lot of newspapers.
Me, too.
Meet me at 6:00 for the press awards.
Men.
Miss lane. Miss lane.
Missed us.
Missile test alpha. All systems go.
Mmm.
Morning, father.
Morning, gentlemen.
Mozart, my low forehead friend.
Mr. Warfield gave me to ask Superman.
Mr. Warfield wants shots of you
Mr. White, Lacy will be helping you.
Mr. White, show me your books.
Mr. White.
Must have been asleep at the wheel,
My American express card.
My apologies to Miss Warfield.
My first official act Is to say, you're fired!
My trip to Paris is cancelled?
Need some help?
Never set one of them above the rest.
Never. We'll lay low for a while,
Nice to see you guys!
Nice to see you. It's been a long time.
Nifty, huh?
No chance. Oh, no.
No matter what It is.
No pain, no gain.
No, I don't think that.
No, Luthor.
No, no, no. Listen.
No, Superman makes a different kind of entrance.
No, you have my voice.
No.
No.
Nobody wants war.
Nobody's perfect.
Not one of your great thinkers.
Not so fast. All trips are cancelled.
Not those! The other one!
Now come along and meet the press.
Now that Superman has ended the arms race,
Now that you're the publisher...
Now you've broken the laws of nature, too.
Now, come along,
Now, Is there anything we can do?
Now, there's a different kind of entrance.
Now, this Is what I call a newspaper.
Nuclear warhead dealer to the world.
Of a once powerful and enlightened planet.
Of course he is.
Of course, Sir.
Of our new layout. Super, isn't it?
Of Superman's genetic material,
Oh, are you sure?
Oh, but...
Oh, Clark, are you ok?
Oh, Clark.
Oh, dear.
Oh, great.
Oh, guys, really, that's great.
Oh, he is? oh.
Oh, I'm fine, Clark, how are you?
Oh, I've just,
Oh, kitten,
Oh, let her go, darling.
Oh, Lex, we're all very pleased
Oh, Lois. What are you doing here?
Oh, maybe It's just Superman.
Oh, my dinner!
Oh, my god!
Oh, my gosh, look at this.
Oh, no, that's ok.
Oh, no!
Oh, no!
Oh, no.
Oh, really? Look at this.
Oh, right! Yeah! I'll go get Clark.
Oh, somebody brought It in.
Oh, sure. Here.
Oh, thank you.
Oh, there's Clark.
Oh, tonight?
Oh, what a joker old Jonathan Kent was.
Oh, wow!
Oh, wow!
Oh, wow! I'm break dancing! Hey!
Oh, you wanted some fresh air.
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
Oh! Hello!
Oh! Um, Superman, meet Lacy Warfield.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh... really?
Ohh!
Ok, get dressed, and we'll go.
Ok, here you go, Jeremy.
Ok, you try It now.
Ok.
Ok.
Ok. This time you have both gone too far.
On a missile I hurled into the sun.
On my command, fire.
Once removed,
Once you've destroyed all nuclear missiles,
One thing... how'd you beat him?
Only way to hear it. Come on.
Only you can hear me.
Ooh, you got a fine, fine,
Oomph! Uh... Lacy.
Or we'll throw you to the wolves!
Or you'll talk to your lawyers from jail.
Other civilizations for us to meet,
Otherwise,
Ou est la gare pour...
Oui, monsieur. Au revoir.
Our business Is journalism.
Over here, Clarkey.
Over here.
Ow.
Oww! Ahh!
Pardon, monsieur.
Parting is...
Please, be seated.
Please, be seated.
Please?
Please.
Poor kid.
Prison twisted your mind Into a delusionary state.
Raaaarr!
Raaarrgh!
Raarrr!
Reach out!
Reach out!
Reactions, ok.
Really?
Really?
Regardez.
Remember my motto,
Rock!
Rooaarr!
Rooaarr!
Rrraaarr!
Rrrarrrr!
Same old Mr. Kent. He'll never change.
Santa Maria...
See ya.
See you In 20.
Should we get on with the interview?
Shut those blinds!
Shut up!
Silly me, thinking I could fool the super guy.
Since incarceration except one thing...
So do you.
So I convinced them to lend me the money.
So there I was, the first time ever
So we can see how strong he really is.
So we should hurry a little.
Somebody has to be an optimist.
Somehow something pulled me here.
Somehow...
Something appropriate.
Something wonderful.
Something's wrong, isn't it?
Sometimes, I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Sorry. Won't happen again.
Step into your office.
Stop! That's enough!
Stuff it!
Stumble into the madness of possible nuclear destruction.
Super fine sound system here, son.
Superman can make sure
Superman gets mail here?
Superman will have the biggest surprise of his life.
Superman, the subject of our newest exhibit,
Superman!
Superman!
Superman!
Superman!
Superman?
Superman. Superman.
Sure! ok!
Sure. ok.
Take a look at this.
Take me with you!
Tedious.
Tedious.
Thank you kindly, Superman.
Thank you very much.
Thank you, daddy. That's very nice.
Thank you, Superman.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thanks a lot. I know you'll come through.
Thanks, daddy.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks. Be right back.
That hair Is a sample
That he's doing his best to make sure
That I didn't have a long range,
That I now have plans to recreate life itself.
That I will always cherish the time
That I've always subscribed to.
That I've grown from Superman's hair cells...
That It'll be all right for the rest of us.
